The Poet As Art provides free public poetry readings featuring distinguished Pacific Northwest poets in an environment of art. Usually, the readings are held at the Lucia Douglas Gallery in Fairhaven, which features artists from around the Pacific Northwest. Broadsides by the featured are available for free. There is a suggested donation at the door. Readings are held on an inrregular basis, and are well publicized prior to the events.
The Poet As Art also offers workshop opportunities for writers of all levels to acquire knowledge and competency in a variety of thought-provoking topics.
In the future, The Poet As Art is considering other events, including a variety of workshops (including subjects such as publishing, bookmaking, and writing in other genres; lectures by poets and writers from other genres, and invitations to nationally known poets to read for a larger audience in Whatcom County.
